Have update app and on the XL package but every time I want to watch on the go I get cannot discover TiVo box, of course you can't it's at home switched offi tell it but to no avail
How do expect to access your TiVo if it's switched off?
Accept that so I have to have it turned on all the time to watch programmes away from home but to remote record it can be off??
So, you want to set a recording when the box is off?
Just how are you expecting data to be written to the TiVo when it has no power to spin the hard disk?

Apologies for the issues you are having trying to remote record. I know just how frustrating this can be.
As per Ernie, in order to send a remote record request, the TiVo® does need to be on. It can be in Standby but not completely off.
When the TiVo® is on, try setting up a recording. Does this work?
If you are still having an issue, what error message do you get?
