Device detection has timed out.

Got my email today and signed in, tried to watch some live TV and get the message Device detection has timed out.

I am at work on a 30Mb leased line and as sysadmin i do not have to go through a web proxy to access the internet.

So initial impressions of TV Anywhere can be summed up in one word, its starts with s ends in t and its not soot.

Hi MattF,

What browser, operating system, and version of Flash are you using?

Are you also behind a firewall?

If you have a firewall and pop-up blocker, please allow/enable the address – ‘anywhere.virginmedia.com’ as a trusted site.

Thanks

Browser is IE8

OS is Win 7 Pro SP1 x64

Flash version is 11.5.502.110

I have unfiltered access outbound to most common ports already but added a rule for ‘anywhere.virginmedia.com’ which gives me complete unrestricted HTTP and HTTPS access to that URL - not even AV scanning is enabled on that rule.

Still dosent work.

I can see whats recorded my Tivo at home fine just cant watch anything.

Re: Device detection has timed out.

I have the same problem I have tried to use this behind a proxy. I have also tried to use it via a USB cable to my iphone set to tethering switched on.

Both just result in endlessly waiting for something to start playing.

BBC Iplayer works with the tethering option.

And on getting home and trying it on my PC here i can register a device (my pc) and choose to watch a live stream and get nothing more than a black screen.

This service is pathetic - even by VM standards.

Behind a proxy here as well and no use......the most annoying thing is that the Media Player they had, although not great, worked fine at work but not the TVAnywhere......or should that be TVAnywhereexceptthereorthereandohyeahthere.
