Safe Search Side Bar

Hey there

For the past month or so, I've been getting a really annoying sidebar down the left side of my screen.  It's called 'Safe Search', and it shows the options to have it 'Off', 'Low', or 'Strict'.  But even though I highlight the 'Off' choice, It still won't go away.

I don't know why or how this started to appear, but I find it very annoying, and it seems to affect my searches, by cutting out a lot of options.  For example, a search on 'Castle' will show the TV series Castle, but not historic castles.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

probably malware that you allowed to install -  so a cleaner like Malwarebytes should zap it for you?

Re: Safe Search Side Bar

I just removed the same side bar from my client's computer. It seems that this Safe Search is ready to take another round as the number of infected users is getting bigger these days.

The main thing you need to know is that Safe Search is related to Adnetworkperformance virus, Advanced & Clean Search, and Google is Tracking Your Searches virus. You need to uninstall all these entries thru Control Panel to stop redirects to Safe Search. Then, resetting web browsers is a must. Otherwise, this virus will reappear right after rebooting computer.

Keep in mind that tracking what programs are installed on your computer is a must when trying to avoid unwanted hijackers. To prevent them, you need to select Custom or Advanced installation.
