Parent setting up timed access for kids to access the wi-fi

15 year old son now not speaking to me - I have "ruined his life".  I,however, don't think I have blocked enough but it's a start - if school work not up to standard - times get reduced.

Disappointing that I can only put 7 blocked periods of time for a whole week.  - Virgin, can you improve this?

Ideally would like to have 12 or more as follows.

Times available

Monday               07.00 – 07.40      17.00 – 21.15

Tuesday               07.00 – 07.40      17.00 – 21.15

Wednesday        07.00 – 07.40      17.00 – 21.15

Thursday             07.00 – 07.40      17.00 – 21.15

Friday                    07.00 – 07.40      14.30 – 22.00

Saturday              10.00 – 22.00 (possible lunch break)

Sunday                 10.00 – 22.00 (possible lunch break)

Thank you

Re: Parent setting up timed access for kids to access the wi-fi

Hi Liz007,

Welcome to the community, hopefully we can help, or not depending on your sons perspectiveSmiley Wink

You could maybe use the weekends or weekday option with the access rules, using this instead of specific days should free up some additional space for rules, though appreciate that Friday would have to fall in line with the other days.

I've had to resort to hiding the router at times with my lotSmiley Sad

Cheers

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 then consider using Windows Family Safety which allows you to:-

1) Define time restrictions.

2) Set curfews.

3) Filter websites.

4) Restrict App usage.

5) Block games.

6) View reports on the above.

If Windows 7 is your Operating System then you can get some of these features by downloading Windows Live Family Safety, part of Windows Essentials, for free from www.microsoft.com

If you have upgraded to Windows 10 then see here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-10/set-up-family-after-upgrade

See this post for further info: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Switched-On-Families/Is-it-possible-to-apply-WebSafe-to-a-specif...

(I'm sure your son will appreciate your actions in due course, and thank you for them.) Smiley Wink
