Childsafe problem

Hi,
I have Childsafe switched on but on checking my iPad is not filtering adult sites.
I have rebooted my iPad and the router but still have an issue.
Please can you help?

Re: Childsafe problem

In the network connection info does it list the device as (correctly) using your home network and what is the DNS server(s) it lists?

Also I assume you were doing like for like testing? I.E. does bad website A get blocked on device #1? If so does bad website A also get blocked on device #2? I mention this because not all adult websites are dealt with by ChildSafe, but can be flagged to VM for review. So if you were using multiple websites, one of them may not have been blocked.

Re: Childsafe problem

Hi, thanks so much for the reply.
I spotted the issue when I was searching for something and got porn results through the browser. I get it on my iPad and iPhone (disconnected from the data network)
Further checking shows nothing us filtered when I have thought it has been for months.
The connection is definitely through my VM. And there is no DNS entry. I didn't know I had to enter one??? I don't remember the childsafe information on the website ever stating that. :-(

Re: Childsafe problem

Hi, no problem. The thing is that Child Safe doesn't block search results or images cached by search engines, it just stops the website being browsable to. To filter adult search results out, you need to register an account with the search provider and enable parental controls (if they offer such a feature.)

If you can actually browse to one of the adult websites, check the DNS by using the following route: Settings -> WiFi -> click the name of your VM WiFi network you're connected to -> DNS servers are listed here.

The DNS settings are very important because Child Safe is applied through VM'S DNS servers, so if the DNS settings on a device is ever changed for whatever reason then it won't be protected by Child Safe or Virus Safe.
