Re: Blocking social media websites

Hi

Unfortunantly there is no out of the box solution with the Superhub 2 but that doesnt mean you cant get it done!

you could sign up to a site called opendns

https://www.opendns.com/

This will allow you to control the websites that others can connect to.

You can do this by changing your dns on the devices. It has a very good guide on how you can do this.

https://support.opendns.com/categories/20080020-OpenDNS-Device-Configuration

I hope this helps with getting an answer to your question!

Re: Blocking social media websites

but note that you will have to create a free account with open DNS and then set up open DNS on each and every device that you wish to block, as you cannot set up in a VM hub.. it is also easy to bypass for anyone who is tech smart, but it is better than nothing.

another solution - again you have to set this on every device, but this one cannot then be bypassed without the master password is K9. this has been spun out of software developed to sell to big corporations to stop employees using facebook etc on company time, so it's what you need & it is free for personal use. google it.

Don't log on to them?

Re: Blocking social media websites

you cannot block URLs or categories in superhub 2.

you can block a few specific site URLs in superhub 1, but the only ways to block ALL social media sites are as already explained by myself and others, or buy your own advanced router.

please read the thread before asking  questions that are already answered

Re: Blocking social media websites

I have read the thread.

I did not ask a question, although my comment does contain a questionmark.

I was suggesting that the OP refrains from logging into social media sites, but you have to be able to read between the lines to see that.

Re: Blocking social media websites

You can block the domains (e.g. *.facebook.com) in the domain blocking on the super hub.

200Mb(SH2 SH2AC Hub 3.0), 2 X V6 TV XL, Phone M. 100Mb Business (Hitron Hub).

Re: Blocking social media websites

Thanks for all the replies

I have found another solution, I remove the super hub until the boys have completed all their homework etc :-)
