tis the season of slow speed? (Area ref 06)

usually experiencing a happy 200+Mbps Smiley Happy  so when I see speed tests less than 100 its concerning Smiley Frustrated

but over the festive period its been more in the 30s and 40s (oddly with a consistent upload speed?!)

any reasons for this?

Haven't called it in yet, as being told to wet my finger and place it in my ear or stand on one leg while reciting Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, really isn't going to solve what is probably an issue beyond the walls of my home.

Third-party router, Virgin SH2 in modem modem... both restarted, stroked lovingly, hell I'll feed them uneaten mince pies if it will return it to the speeds I was seeing in November 2016

TIA

Odd everything looks okay except the network log but thats a known SH2 bug.

You got a BQM running?

If not set one up

HERE

Run it for say 24 hrs, and post the result.

Dont forget youll need to make sure your super hub is configured to reply to ICMP echo requests...

Re: tis the season of slow speed? (Area ref 06)

So we can help us to help you, can you

Go to your Superhub Log in screen

Do NOT log in.

Little button top right.....

Can you post Upstream, Downstream and Network logs.

Screen caps are nice, C&P will do- Don't stress about formatting if you C&P. Someone will get a look and see if there's anything obvious amiss.

Re: tis the season of slow speed? (Area ref 06)

....as I didn't see any further input from the forums, I called it in today

couple of basic questions and then an engineer was arranged to attend a location beyond my property (support agreed that a problem must be occurring)

I have hit three speedtests since and got 220Mbps every time so far Smiley Happy

lets hope those 2 tins and a bit of string stay taut Smiley Wink

Re: tis the season of slow speed? (Area ref 06)

so sadly the consistency was short lived and the line snapped!

I'm now part of the rabble that is HIGH UTILISATION Smiley Sad

...for my sins I will now receive compensation of half my broadband fee per month until the ETA of APRIL 2017!!!!! Smiley Frustrated

I still cannot believe that was flippers first response, when I asked about my fault reported 2 days ago:

"so whats happening? where's my call from the engineer?"

"he didn't finish, the job will be finished on the 5th April"  Smiley LOL

"what 2017?!?!"  Smiley Mad

Why is it that VM (other well known telcos are available) have known for 2 months about this issue and the first I know is when I chase up an unresolved fault that they knew nothing about (allegedly) 'till I told them!

And the offering of compensation is a demand from me, in lieu of the fact that I'm paying for an advertised service and haven't been getting it.

Would have been far better to call me and say "hey mr person of postcode, you aren't getting the full quota, so here's some money back!"

....and another thing that irritates me is the only persons to be blamed for High Utilisation is the company.

They know the limits of their equipment and yet they keep inviting paying people into the pool!

Re: tis the season of slow speed? (Area ref 06)

Hey there moof,

Thanks for your post Smiley Happy

Apologies for the connection problems. I've just this moment replied to your other post regarding this here.

If we could possibly stick to just one thread per topic, it'll help us keep in touch.

Thanks again,

Take care.
