Re: slower speed than usual and only 2 upstream channels locked after work was carried out on the street

I used to get 200mbps and now the highest on speedtest.net is 150mbps. I have to reset the superhub frequently and youtube doesn't load up most videos.

Were you on more than 2 upstream channels before? 2 channels is normal and you get more depending on package/CMTS config.

Re: slower speed than usual and only 2 upstream channels locked after work was carried out on the street

I do remember always having 4 upstream channels and never have noticed my speed going under 200mbps. I've only joined the online community as webchat is not available on Sundays. I am not happy at all with the broadband service I had for the last week. Can anybody notice anything unusual in the Downstream/Upstream channels? I believe the db power used to be lower before work was carried out on the street cabinet.

Your speed boost is complete!
Your connection speed is now up to 200Mbps.

We've upgraded your speed so you can enjoy more of what you love to do online.

Well it definitely isn't 200mbps anymore!

Hi motorwar,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

Sorry to read that you are experiencing issues with your broadband speeds.

From checking your connection, there is a high peak time traffic fault in your area which is causing slow speeds. Our networks team are investigating the problem and are improving bandwidth and performance to help with this issue. The reference number is F004971681 and has a review date of 29th March.

Do you get these speeds at all times of the day or does it only slow down during peak hours?

Are you testing through a wired or wireless connection?

Let us know how you get on

Sam

Hi and thank you for your reply!
Since posting this thread late that night everything has run smooth and trouble free. I've been moaning about the service I had last week and you may be right about the traffic peak time.

Morning motorwar,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I'm glad that everything seems to be ok for you now except for the high traffic fault.

I will pass this onto my colleagues who will be able to provide further information and updates.

Regards

Sam

Re: slower speed than usual and only 2 upstream channels locked after work was carried out on the...

This is not a high peak traffic only problem unless high peak traffic is defined as 24 hours. Recently I've been spending more time rebooting the router than doing anything online. By the time I get to load some pages I forget what I was going to do and just give up. I've had a good service for about 18 months so nothing inside my house can be blamed as I have made no changes. This only started to happen after more than 2 neighbours moved in on the street and they have joined Virgin Media. So I am not happy at all that they got connected and I've lost the broadband service I had.
