Edinburgh is a virgin media server even the Engineer said it ok he did a speed test and he hot over 200 down but two minutes later it dropped to 47 meg so definite problem He admitted that there was a fault 

I forgot to put it in my first reply

Interesting, when you say you had an engineer call Monday, what date/time was that please so we may check our records, did you get a fault reference number? In the early part of December your connection was moved to a new CMTS, your account has been noted by an engineer previous to that with a fault that applied to your old CMTS but not the new one. We show no known network faults affecting you, the CMTS traffic you are on is low, your hub and line are looking good.

cannot really remember the exact time Nichola_C I was glad he came it should be logged onto my account as I phoned in and a lady booked it for me.

He arrived Young lad in his twenties I would say He put his meter thingy to modem and got the full download as with the Pc  then tried my Mac it was fine then he tried it again dropped to 46Mbs around that then jumped up again next try it down again. HE stated that the engineers know whats going on not  the people you call he also stated that there was a fault and they working on it and should be fixed late January 

no Fault code ref was given

ok today Sunday 14th 01 2018.....been out just get home go to PC and at 15-07pm internet goes dead. 15-09pm internet comes back on.

15-09pm internet goes off again.

15-10pm  internet on again, still on this is what it has been doing since November maybe they trying to sort out the external fault
