router keeps turning itself on and off

for well over a year my router has a mind of its own and will turn itself on and off. I called Virgin Media and they told me to take out the Ethernet cable and use Wi-Fi, which I did and it hasn't made any difference.

It is most likely to turn itself off when I turn on my PC, I have to use the troubleshooting guides and not even that can get me back online.

Help!

Re: router keeps turning itself on and off

Hi Susie,

Can you post your Upstream and Downstream dats please so that we can see if there's a power level issue.   Type  192.168.0.1  into your browser's URL which should get you into the Hub's management screens ... do NOT sign in, just click on Router Status where you'll find the data pages.

Re: router keeps turning itself on and off

Well Susie, that's a very healthy set of figures ... power levels up and down are good and so is the signal-to-noise ratio, so no obvious solution presenting itself.

Maybe the power supply to your Hub is intermittent although that wouldn't really explain why turning on your PC triggers a failure.   Sorry, I'm stumped.

Re: router keeps turning itself on and off

Hello susiebrown,

Thanks for posting and a big welcome to the community Smiley Very Happy

Sorry to hear about the problems you're having with your Superhub, it certainly shouldn't be behaving like this. I think it's best if we arrange for a replacement to be delivered to you.

I'll place an order now and it'll arrive within 3-5 business days, and it'll be a self install. Please remember to change over the power supply when you're installing it.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Let us know when it arrives,

Take care.

Re: router keeps turning itself on and off

Is there any news on the router that I was told would be ordered for me and to arrive a week a go.

Re: router keeps turning itself on and off

Hi susiebrown,

Thanks for getting back in touch, I am sorry to see the Hub has not arrived.

I don't know quite what has happened but I have re-ordered and the hub will be with you within the next 3-5 working days.

Please accept my apologies.

Once it is up and running let me know how you get on.

All the best

Emma

Re: router keeps turning itself on and off

The new hub arrived a week ago and I have not had any problems at all. Thank you for sorting it out. I kept ringing Virgin Media but they kept saying there was no fault.
