Youtube sound problems

Hi all
Not sure who this problem should be directed to so I will start here .
I know there were / still are issues with VM and Youtube streaming
but I found a while back that videos would stop playing back but
did not seem to be buffering and the audio would carry on , this could
be solved by nudging the progress slider .
More recently another problem has surfaced , when I play a video
after a short while I get a second recording of the sound ontop of the
first , if I stop the playback the video and one sound stop but the
other sound carries on .
There was one occation where it was an advert that played over the top
of the wanted sound .
Also I have found that some sound plays without clicking the play button
, like the "tips" video above .
All this makes YT unuseable so anyone have an idea what is wrong ?
I use Win XP sp3 , Firefox , and I think the playbacks are normaly HTML5

Thanks for any help

Pete

Re: Youtube sound problems

Hate to say it but maybe it's time to upgrade from Windows XP.   It was a lovely OS but is now suffering from neglect.

Re: Youtube sound problems

I've had the second sound track problem but in chrome on a Win 7 pro PC. With me it was something to do with flash and HTML5 both trying to play the video at the same time. I disabled auto play for flash and it fixed it.

To do this in Firefox:

Type about:addons in the address bar, hit enter and click on plugins on the left. If Always Activate is selected for Shockwave Flash change it to Ask to Activate.

Worth a try.

Dave.

Re: Youtube sound problems

Some success !

Following on from what Dave said and something I read ,I went to Firefox extentions and ticked the box in HTML5 that says "disable in Youtube" , this seems to have stopped the double audio problem .

I'm not sure what is being used now to play YT videos but that's a minor problem , at least I can watch and listen in peace ! .

I will see how things go and post again if I find another problem .

Thankyou

Pete

Re: Youtube sound problems

Hello again

The double sound problem is gone but there is still a buffering problem , the video stops with the buffering whirly thing but the sound carries on for a while then it to stops , I decided to leave it and see what happens , the video will start after some time and the sound jumps back to match the video , very odd .

As before I can nudge the progress slider to make the video and sound carry on , so if it has the data there why does it buffer ?, aint technology wonderful ! .
