Youtube iPlayer and Facebook evening perfomance poor to unusable

As with everyone else that is reporting the same problems, evening performance with YouTube video and BBC video is absolutely appalling. Even streaming 480 res video is patchy, 720 and above is just not watchable at all  -  with the buffering, buffering, buffering. Accessing Facebook is also ridiculous with the pages frequently taking minutes to load all content. Other sites are not a problem and performance is as expected.

Performance during the day with all these is fine - with streaming up to "4K" video with no problem.

Basic speed tests are fine - speedtest.net and dslreports reporting 200Mbs+ down and 12Mbs+ up.

TBBB ping monitor is showing that latency is getting gradually worse in the evenings again, but not yet significantly affecting performance in this case as this issue is only with certain sites, this is not the cause of the problem.

Modem levels are all within spec for acceptable performance. This is not the cause of the problem.

The issue is with the routing or with your caching system - as on previous occasions. However this is not showing the same TBB ping shape that characterised the cache problems in previous years.

As requested in other threads regarding the appalling performance with YouTube, here are ping and trace route info request taken at about 09:40 this morning out of peak time as requested.

Re: Youtube iPlayer and Facebook evening perfomance poor to unusable

Hi JayAy,

Many thanks for your time and coming back to share your experience.

I am sorry that there's been some performance issues on the Internet whilst using YouTube and Facebook. I've been looking into the account and it is showing that the Hub may be offline right now, this may be due to it being turned off?

Can you please confirm that this was indeed on during the time of my message?

Keep in touch.

Ben

Re: Youtube iPlayer and Facebook evening perfomance poor to unusable

I missed you reply completely - I forgot to check the "email me when someone replies" - Doh!

The system is never turned off unless there is a power cut or I'm rebooting it, the chances of either of these coinciding with your check are small.

Can you take another look?

Re: Youtube iPlayer and Facebook evening perfomance poor to unusable

Hey JayAy,

Thanks for getting back in touch Smiley Very Happy

I've been able to check your connection this evening and I can see that we're currently working on a fault in your area under ref: F004662859 which is due for review on the 14th Dec.

This fault is responsible for reducing speeds during peak time hours (evenings and weekends).

I do apologies for this, please let me know if you have any other questions.

Take care.

Re: Youtube iPlayer and Facebook evening perfomance poor to unusable

Just spoken to CS and they say this F004662859 is no longer showing against my account. Why has it been removed?

Can you now please tell me what the new fault number is and let me know what the review date will be please?
