When will my speed unlock ?

Hi all and please read this.

My connection speed is Upto 50Mbps - however i only see during off-peak times and peak times a locked speed of 6.7mbps - My phone does 20mbps download speed on steam (that costs me only £20 per month) i need this to be fixed asap as i am paying the full £32.25 per month - As i know its wrong and far too low if my Galaxy S4 on USB tethering can beat your service.

Please understand i am paying for Upto 50mbps i am not in arrears infact im in credit.

pretty unhappy to be honest , i expected more as a new customer.

Re: When will my speed unlock ?

File downloads are usually measured in Megabytes per second.

Grand Theft Auto was downloading at 6.7 MBps = 53.6Mbps (8bits = 1 Byte)

Re: When will my speed unlock ?

Can you post upstream power levels, downstream power levels and your network log from your HUB? And let us know how you are connecting to your HUB?

Just to clarify, you are getting the same low speed all day every day?

Re: When will my speed unlock ?

Many thanks for the reply!

This is exactly why i posted my confused post - because i found it HARD to believe that my s4 is out performing my Super hub 3.0 and internet speeds on  my package, hence why i figured something may be wrong.

From what you say though it seems my package is Much slower Roughly 20+ megabytes per second as i have those recorded download speeds before i switched on steam! proving then using my £20 a month mobile was a better deal (it got even faster after midnight too!)......this is some discouraging news in regards to what i now am paying for my internet access that has a super hub 3.0 and Ethernet connection.

Many thanks for all the reply all of you for making me aware of the slight confusion.

regards l

Re: When will my speed unlock ?

As Griffin said, the downloads on steam are done in MBs, not the Mbs the packages and speedtests online measure in (the size of the b/B makes a difference)

You are receiving full speed from VM, and I would hazard a guess and the 20Mbs on phone is Mbs not MBs, which is lower than what VM are giving you.

Re: When will my speed unlock ?

No the speed on the phone is still faster but I am happy to know I am getting what I'm paying for and as advertised regardless only the comparison of speeds between the two now concerns me as I have at minimum a 12 megabytes per second download speed on steam as I'm using it now to finish my download of gta5 as I'm an impatient Internet user Xd , but regardless I am happy as I said to know my Internet connection at home is working as intended.

thanks again for any reply

Re: When will my speed unlock ?

Got any proof of your phone speeds? Would love to know what network you are on etc as I rarely go above 20Mbs (not MBs) myself, sometimes get up to 50Mbs near the mast.

20MBs would indicate you are DLing at 160Mbs on your phone

Re: When will my speed unlock ?

I still don't see how it is, I've never seen a mobile network anywhere near those speeds.

I just want to know so I can get them myself!
