My broadband is coming to a stand still at around 5pm. Ive recorded some BQM graphs over various days. The pings and download speed go to crap and the modem reboots frequently for an hour or so at this time. Please advise...
Hi thanks for replying. Im back again and its issues again around 5pm. Heres an up to date BQM graph and as you can see there is packet loss around 5pm.
Im on the 200mb gamer package and at around 5pm for around an hour or so I get buffering when streaming video and when running speed tests ect Im getting higher than normal pings and download speeds of a couple of mbps. I have BQM graphs going back a couple of months and they all show packet loss at around 5pm for a short period of time. At the same time, if I do a bandwidth test I am getting very slow speeds. At any other time of day I am getting 220mbps down and 20mbps up... but something is up at the head end around 5pm. Can this be investigated please?
Its into the 5pm window and once again I have crap internet. I did a speed test at 4:30pm and I was getting a solid 220mbps download and solid 20mbps upload. Half hour later and im getting random download speeds ranging anything from below 1mbps up to about 20mbps but with packet losses occurring and multiple modem reboots. I can post as many BQM graphs as you want, they show clear packet less at 5pm for about an hour and at no other time of the day.
I'd like to run some real time diagnostics on your connection around the time that you're experiencing the packet loss.
Next week I'll be on a late shift, finishing at 10pm, so I hope you don't mind waiting until then?
In the meantime would you please run a traceroute to bbc.co.uk and post the output on here along with a ping test to the same destination?

I'm getting awful speed as well and it seems to be random.

Thank you for posting that data, appreciate it I have run a number of real-time tests on your connection:
From the default gateway (at your CMTS)
Sending 1000, 100-byte ICMP Echos to ***.**.***.**, timeout is 2 seconds: Packet sent with a source address of **.**.***.* Success rate is 100 percent (1000/1000), round-trip min/avg/max = 6/6/58 ms
From the default gateway to your Hub
Sending 1000, 100-byte ICMP Echos to **.**.***.**, timeout is 2 seconds: Packet sent with a source address of **.**.***.* Success rate is 100 percent (1000/1000), round-trip min/avg/max = 6/9/98 ms
I'm not able to replicate your data right now.
So I'd like to arrange for an engineer visit (this will be required anyway should I escalate this to Networks). He'll be able to check out the local connection and escalate to a Networks Technician if needed. Please reply to my PM (purple envelope icon, top right of page) and I'll get an appointment scheduled.
