What exactly is this work in the WN3 6 area

Contractors for Virgin have been working in the WN3 6 area (new houses off Tanhouse Drive) for over a month now.
It is obviously new installations, inspection covers ,cabinets, etc... but is this just to connect all the new homes that were recently built to the existing network, or will this actually be improving the network?

The area is bad enough with over utilisation without the addition of one hundred plus new homes unless this is part of the long awaited network upgrade.

Re: What exactly is this work in the WN3 6 area

I live just round the corner from those pictures and I had a review date of 14th December, as of tonight Im getting speeds of 50-60Mb, I had only been getting 2-4Mb at this time of night for nearly a year.

Im hopeful that things are being resolved.

Does this come under Area 01? If so improvements are underway but not sure how long it will take to completely fix the vast number of utilisation faults.

Honestly looks like room for another cabinet. A cat-c reseg potentially?

Having a second cab certainly will be helpful.

Well, every time I walk past the 'works', the 'workers' are never there. And I have just been informed by PM that the current fault responsible for my slow speeds (F002896495) has another new review date of 28/12/16....  One can only hope! This will be F002896495's third Christmas.

That grey cab is a new one. There were none at all along this stretch a month ago.

Re: What exactly is this work in the WN3 6 area

Looks like the 'workers' are having an extended Christmas break.

Tidied up a bit but still just an open hole in the ground. Its been like this for three weeks.

@Shafreya
Do you know what this type of work does to help alleviate peak time utilisation? I have one of those old looking cabs at bottom of my road..
