Very slow speeds

Hi hoping somebody can help me.

Since virgin was installed my speeds have been very slow.  I currently pay for the 200meg package and  I am lucky if I get 25 + download. There is the odd time I get good speeds but it is usual late at night surely traffic management doesn't reduce by speed by over 75% during the day or at peak times.

Please help me get the speeds which I thought I would be paying for.

 

I left one of your main competitors hoping to get better internet speeds.

They promised me 60 meg I got 65 meg constantly day or night.

are you testing this on a windows 10 PC. If so I have found a windows update that was causing me speed issues until I unistalled it.

Yes windows 10 PC but I have applied the fix recommended by virgin, but to my understanding microsoft realeased a patch to fix that problem.

Even on wifi using my phone sitting beside the router the speeds are crap.

The speeds have always been rubbish since day one I was told that they would improve once everything settled down but as yet no improvement unfortunatly.

Hi mate, I had similar problems that started last week. A constant 209Mbps that randomly dropped to mid 70's for over 10 days. My tests were all done on the standard speedtest.net site but I have today tried the beta version of that site and also dslreports speed test and they tell me I'm getting 215Mbps on both sites. I then go back to the standard version of speedtest.net and it reports well under half of that.

Give http://beta.speedtest.net/ and http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest a go and see what they give you.

I'm under the illusion that speedtest.net has a problem.

Thanks for the reply I tried both of those sites and they both gave speeds of 75 mbps which seems to be an improvement.

Just annoys me considering I'm on the 200 mbps package and I receive no where near those speeds.

I too have a 200mb service from these jokers. tried all the speed tests going and still get a maximum of 91mbps.

I`m about to make a call and propose the I will pay for what they actually provide. most annoyingly they just persuaded me to upgrade from the 50 mbps as I was only getting 28mbps.So whatever you pay for you, you`ll get half!!!!

Only thing I can suggest is having a go on the phone and getting an engineer out mate. Maybe some more technically advanced guys on here can give you a better idea what's going on with your readings from your router but hopefully you will get the 200 speeds soon.
