Very Low Upstream speeds following upgrade to 200 MBps service (TF3 Area)

I've been on the 152Mb service for a while, and by and large, the service has been fine. Yes it slows down at peak times, but that happens with almost all ISPs, so am not particularly bothered by it.

I moved over to the 200 Mb service yesterday as part of a change to my VM package, and since then, I have virtually no Upstream throughput. Speed tests put it at about 0.01-0.05 mbps. Downstream is certainly better. Have seen 30-70Mbps (not exactly headline speeds, but not unusable).

I am not 100% sure if the 200mbps service has even launched in my area yet, but VM advise I am now on it, so I guess it is. The router stats seem ok, but am seeing a lot of T3 errors. Stats are below...

Re: Very Low Upstream speeds following upgrade to 200 MBps service (TF3 Area)

The T3 errors could signify an upstream impairment on your connection, your logs are full and the last T3 error is repeating itself (clearing the logs might be a good idea).

The large number of T3 errors showing on the error counters definetly need investigating further by VM, if contemporary would explain your upstream problem.

You will need to contact VM for resolution, either by waiting here about a week until a VM Forum Team Member picks up the thread, or give them a call on 150 from a VM line or 0345 454 1111 for a quicker response.

Re: Very Low Upstream speeds following upgrade to 200 MBps service (TF3 Area)

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply.

I called VM, who agreed the T3 errors were way too high, so agreed to send out an engineer. Things got progressively worse, to the point where nothing was loading.

Jump forward to this morning, and the VM engineer is due out sometime this morning. I think, i'll try restarting the router one more time, just for the hell of it. And now, its all working fine. I am getting 217 meg d/s (gotta love those fat backhaul links) and 12 meg upstream. Bearing in mind, this is on a superhub 2, which I was told, by the VM support engineer, could "not support 200 meg at all".

I suppose its possible the engineer may have bumped me up in the local cab, and not bothered coming to the house, time will tell I guess. I am just happy it's working again Smiley Happy
