Upgrade to promised 70mb from 50 from Virgin

I had an email last Friday 11 Nov saying my Broadband had been increased from 50mb to 70mb. When I checked it, it still showed 50mb so called 150 and was eventually told I was still on 50. I cannot find any way to contact customer service to see what is actually happening! Any help?

You have to order the upgrade.  Once you have done this you will get the 70mb.  It might take a bit of time to come through, though.

Re: Upgrade to promised 70mb from 50 from Virgin

Thanks for the reply, but I cannot find anywhere to upgrade from 50 to 70 on my login page (I can upgrade to 100 and pay more) Are you saying the email I got (copy below) is not true?
Thanks again.
Hello David
Here is text of the email.....
We’ve just increased your speed – from a nippy up to 50Mb to up to 70Mb.

With your new speed, there’ll be no stopping you zipping round the internet, doing more of the things you love, whether that’s streaming, sharing, movie watching or more.

And of course, it’s not just fast – it’s reliable too. More people can get the speed they pay for thanks to DOCSIS®3, the magic in our cables.

The internet will never be the same again.
Kind regards,
The Virgin Media team

I am afraid that is not true. I have tried it and it does not work. The Virgin Media team have not got their act in order

VM have been automatically upgrading people who are eligible recently. It's not foolproof but they are doing it.

Re: Upgrade to promised 70mb from 50 from Virgin

I was also promised and upgrade to 70Mb but when I log in to my account it says congratulations your upgrade to 50Mb is complete. I suppose I can't complain if I'm paying for the 50Mb package

@Brianmcgee99

Have you changed your package in any way (not just broadband) since last October?
Also have you taken any discounts since last October?

Re: Upgrade to promised 70mb from 50 from Virgin

I haven't changed my package but I did receive a retention discount last month. I called due to the increased charges. I also asked about the upgrade to 70Mb and she said I would need to click something in my account section

@Brianmcgee99

Taking any discount removes your eligibility for the free speed boost.

I wasn't even bothered about the boost but now I am peeved because she said I would definitely get it moments after agreeing to a new contract
