Is it really the case that on vivid 300 there is no upload mangmt at all?

Also my speed is always solid, so what shaping will they do as Ive never seen any reduction ever in my speed but conisdering going from 200 to 300

Re: Traffic managment

For reference it is on their website as well stating no Traffic management on the downstream/upstream.

Re: Traffic managment

As per the gaming tier there is no upload traffic management.

This does not mean its immune from upstream over utilization (rare)

Re: Traffic managment

It's not sold as having no traffic management mind you, unlike 200 gamer which is. This means they could come along one day and stick some management on it with little warning. VM have done that same thing in the past with tiers that had no STM, then in time we got the limits back.

Re: Traffic managment

The Vivid300 package is an upgrade to the Vivid200Gamer package, and should follow pattern of it, just with the higher download.

You actually already need to be on the Vivid200Gamer package to get the Vivid300 package (although you can just do the jump on the order straight there)

Re: Traffic managment

It's interesting they don't list it under the production description then. They repeats a number of the other 'features', but not the no traffic management one. Hopefully they do keep it clear.

Now if only VM would actually sell me a 300Mbps service Smiley Wink (I guess after 8 years of congestion faults they won't sell me upgrades anymore!)

Re: Traffic managment

It's provisioned at 345mbps. That will get around ~330mbps after overheads on a speed test, assuming no local congestion.

Re: Traffic managment

As a company they could always change their mind, but they would be changing their contract at the point they did so you would be free to leave if they did.

I don't see them having any plans to do so currently as I don't think i've actually seen a case of upstream over utilization on here in all my time (although its theoretically possible)

345000000 bps is 345Mbs aye, they over provision packages by 10-15% roughly so that even after overheads your can get your full speeds providing no issues.

The average 24hr speed for the 300Mbs package in February was 307.73Mb and the average peak time (between 8-10pm, so the worse time usually for over utilization) speed was 291.89Mb

The larger packages will be on superhub3's and lots of CMTS are being upgrade and offering more channels (which reduces the impact of overutilization as your demand is spread over a larger amount of channels, think of it like snow shoes helping you walk over snow, their wide base gives more grip.)

So customers are on 24 downstream channels which is a massive step from the 8 channels most customers were on until (relatively) recent times.
