I had the VM 50Mb broadband only package installed since november, and the traffic management during peak times has started to render the line useless. Im not a heavy user and every day at around 5pm the speeds drop down to a snails pace. On a good day i will get around 40mbits during the daytime, but anytime after 5pm i get between 1-4mpbs and 2-3mbits up this is regardless of whats been downloaded. Ive tried to contact customer services about this twice tonight, and both times ive waited for 10 minutes someones answered and immediately ended the call. Ive added some stats from the router below,
You personally are not being traffic shaped by the sounds of it. What is likely to be happening is that your area is over subscribed and there are too many customers so the network cannot cope. So come peak times you see awful speeds as do many others. This is simply due to sales people pushing the top tier services in areas that already struggle to cope. The only way the network can cope is by reducing the speed for everyone. Sadly if you look around the forums on a daily basis you will see numerous threads about the same thing. Its been going on for years and there seems no slow down, except of course for customers download speeds.
Thanks for posting and a warm welcome to the community.
Sorry to read that you are experiencing slow broadband speeds during peak hours.
I've run some checks on your broadband connection, the line and the hub have come back as fine which is good. However high peak time traffic in your area is causing the slow speeds you have been experiencing. Our networks team are investigating the problem and are improving bandwidth and performance to help with this issue. The reference number is F004162308 and has a review date of 22nd February.
I've sent you a PM (purple envelope, right corner) to be able to discuss this further.
