Totaldissatisfaction with VM and their vivid 200

It appears that virgin media cannot provide what is promised (up to 200mb) but will still charge you more for the privilege.  the data from my router.

On very rare occasions i get over 150 (twice).  Even though i live in a village my colleagues in town regularily see over 150mb. so contention should not be an issue.  It is about time virgin owned up to the fact that they are overcharging for service speeds they cannot realise.  It annoys me that my upstream is very stable but my downstream is so variable.  at least with sky i got a steady 7mbps download (not great but you knew what you were getting).  When the other providers catch up with this supposed DOSCIS3 (a joke) it will be time for a change.

Re: Totaldissatisfaction with VM and their vivid 200

Hey there kevinV,

Thanks for posting Smiley Happy

Sorry to hear about the slow speeds you're experiencing, I know this can be really frustrating. I appreciate that you've taken the time to post such detailed diagnostics.

I've just looked at your connection myself and I do see a fault in your area. I know you weren't expecting this, so please accept my apologies.

The fault ref is: F004369319 and the current review date is the 9th Nov. While this fault is on-going you may notice slow speeds during peak time hours (evenings and weekends).

Once again, please let me apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please keep in touch for updates.

Take care.

Re: Totaldissatisfaction with VM and their vivid 200

I experience anything but the payed for 200Mb and never have no matter what time of the day.  If you look at the tests even at non-peak times i am lucky to get anything near 50Mb at HTTP6 and have only experienced over 100Mb twice.  On the 152 tariff it was stable and always over 100mb.  Why do they get you to sign up for higher speeds, should they not be reducing your monthly bill due to reduced bandwidth.  I hope nobody is dumb enough to sign up for the gamer 300Mb (more like 30Mb).

What virgin should advertise is the average speed you might get over day not the unobtainable speeds they quote.
