Terrible peak speeds

I'm in area 31, noticed that internet seemed a bit slow so did some speed tests, been getting over 200MB consistently for ages even at peak times, I mean sometimes it would dip to 50mb or so in very busy periods but generally was always at least 50% of what I was paying for.

First test 30ms ping to the server down the road, 8MB

Second test 100ms, 7MB

Third test 80ms, 3MB

Tried doing the 'equipment test' on the service status page and it proceeded to just crap out my internet for an hour.

Now I understand that during peak times there simply isn't enough total bandwidth for every single person on the network to get their max speed, but 2-3mb(at which point even facebook browsing is an issue) on a 200mb service from 4pm to 10pm is a bit much, it's also pretty bad at the weekend, so basically at the moment the only time I can get full speed or even half speed is either when I'm asleep or at work... though in my case it may also be dodgy power levels.

Re: Terrible peak speeds

Good luck with this.

I've had the same issues for over 10 weeks and still waiting. But maybe tomorrow..........................

high peak time traffic fault (F004101146) and our engineers are still working on this to improve bandwidth with a review date of 30th November.

Re: Terrible peak speeds

Morning leeh1986,

Thanks for taking the time to post on the community.

I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your broadband speeds.

I can see that you have been in contact with my colleague Emma from the other thread that you posted on, which is great > area 31 - under 20mb for my "200mb" service.

She will be back in touch shortly with more information.

Regards

Sam

Re: Terrible peak speeds

Hi Samantha

Emma sorted out an engineer for me and he came and sorted the power levels but despite his best efforts he couldn't figure out why the speed was so slow (it still is) he said he would expect it to be 40-50 during peak times not the 3-5mbit that I'm seeing.

I'm currently getting pings of over 100 and 1.68mb down

What do I do now?

Re: Terrible peak speeds

Evening leeh1986,

Thanks for getting back to me after the appointment.

I've taken a look at your connection and there are no apparent issues on the network that would cause your speeds to drop this low.

When you get chance can you complete speed tests at different times of the day whilst the Hub is in modem mode and let us know the results please. This will eliminate other devices connected.

If we keep this thread open for replies that would be great, as I can see posts on other threads where we are trying to help and it can become confusing.

Speak soon

Sam
