Slow wired speed

Hi

I supposedly have a 200Mb/s service. PC is running a gigabit card however the maximum speed I ever obtain from the various speed testers is 68.23 Mb/s. Note that this is a wired connection not WIFI. Anyone have any ideas? Is this normal to get roughly 1/4 of what you are paying for?

Thanks,
Mark.

Posting some basic diagnostic info may help.

Navigate to the hub's GUI using http://192.168.100.1
Don't log in, click the Router Status button in the top right of the screen.
Copy \ Paste the Downstream, Upstream, and Network Logs.

Don't worry about the formatting.

Are you experiencing slow wired speeds all the time or only during peak evening periods?

Re: Slow wired speed

Forgot to mention, the speed is pretty much the same all the time. I have not noticed a change in speed from the jump to 200Mbps from 100Mbps.

Re: Slow wired speed

Power levels and SNR look fine and there is nothing obvious in the logs to show why you are getting slow speeds.

It might be worth trying another ethernet cable ensuring it is CAT 5E spec or better.

I would check that the ethernet adapter's drivers are up to date according to the adapter's manufacturer's website (Do not rely on Windows Update)

Then I would check the speed with the Hub in Modem mode, remembering you will need to access the hub using 192.168.100.1 in modem mode.

It might be a good idea to start a Broadband Quality Monitor here. You will need to enable Respond to ICMP Echo Requests in the advanced setion of the Hub's GUI or disable the firewall if you have a hub 3

Re: Slow wired speed

Hi mwkenna,

Just to add to griffins advice, I've run a few checks on your service from this end and all looks in good shape, so headline speeds should be very achievable.

A quick test in modem mode may be a thought too, keep us posted Smiley Happy
