Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

Hi

I've noticed that the internet has been really slow for weeks now. Despite paying for 50mbps speed - using speedtest.net, I've found that our download 0.59mbps, upload 3.01mbps, ping 238ms. Its just not usable at the moment, is anyone else having this problem?

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

Hi Annabelko,

Sorry to hear you're getting poor speeds. I've just checked your connection and can see there is a contention fault in the area under ticket F003507140. This is due for review 27/01/16 and will cause slow speeds and latency at peak times such as evenings and weekends. If you bump this thread nearer the 27th we'll take a look and get you an update on the the progress of the work.

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

Hi,

It's very slow again from around 8pm - download speed of 1.83mps... Having looked up the service status, there are no problems in this area? Can Virgin do anything about this, or can I cancel my contract with you as I'm not getting the service I signed up for.

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

The service is getting worse - download speed of 0.66 Mbps and upload speed of 1.52 Mbps. Its only usable during the day when everyone is at work! Not possible to Skype which isn't useful when we have a baby on the way very soon and want to keep in touch with family and friends. This is crazy.

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

I'm also in area 015. I'm concerned as it seems like the situation is getting steadily worse.

While my contract is for 200 Mbps down, I'm by no means expecting those speeds at all times (or even half those speeds -- a reliable 50 Mbps down and I'd be happy). However, as it is I'm lucky to get even 10 Mbps in the evenings, with download speeds regularly dropping below 5 Mbps with ping spikes of 250ms during peak congestion. As I'm writing this I'm at 4.1 Mbps down (http://www.speedtest.net/result/5005757029.png).

Just over an hour ago there was a complete outage for ~10 minutes, between 20.29pm and 20.40pm. There was another one on Friday between 22.35pm and 22.41pm. I'm sure there have been more just in the last couple of weeks, but these are the ones I've been home to witness.

I don't see how a VIVID 200 subscription in this area could ever work for "really busy households with 10+ devices," as advertised, when it can't even sustain a single Netflix stream.

I'll no doubt be back to complain as we get closer to the 27th.

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

Actually, searching for the F003507140 ticket I can see this has been an issue since at least February of last year, so I doubt this is getting resolved anytime soon. I can only hope that more people making their voices heard will compel Virgin to do something about the situation.

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

Hi annabelko,

Thanks for getting back in touch, I'm sorry to see you have continued to have trouble with fault ref F003507140.

I've taken a look and unfortunately the review of this ticket has been pushed back and the planning team are taking another look at this. We should have more news on this after 17/02/2016.

Please give this thread a bump after this time and we'll be able to get an update for you.

In the meantime I'll pop you a PM. Look out for the purple envelope top right hand corner.

All the best

Emma

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

How many faults are there in this area and why are there three different repair dates mentioned on this forum? 27/1/16, 3/2/16 and now 17/2/16. Which of these is going to fix this?

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

Hi annabelko,

Thanks for getting back in touch, The current review date for fault ref F003507140 is 17/02/2016. Unfortunately these types of faults can sometimes be more complex than first thought which is why the dates have moved.

We will have more information on this after the 17th. We'll keep you updated and let you know how things are progressing.

Speak to you soon.

Emma

Re: Slow speed in N22 North London Area Area 15

Is this still happening for other users in N22? I have spoken to Virgin a number of times and they now say this is due to be fioxed on 23/03/16 on fault code 8837905. This is obviously unacceptable.

They have offered to credit 3 months worth of subscription back, so if you are also affected I would suggest you also push for this, perhaps when they start losing money they will improve.

Current speeds across the last few weeks are:
