Poor connection speed (wired). 3 - 4 Mbps.

Hi all,

I had virgin broadband installed a fortnight ago. Initial speed hard wired was 0.5 meg, which support assured me would settle down and reach closer to 40 meg.  However, I get between 2-3 Mbps, whilst paying for "up to" 50.

support just suggest router resets, and moving the router, but after 17 days of trying I'm slightly fed up of their fob-off attitude.

all tips and advice would be highly appreciated

In circumstances like this it is always useful to start by checking the upload and download statistics in the Virgin Hub.

Open a browser window and input the URL 192.168.0.1 and this should open up the hub's management screen.   Do NOT sign in but simply click on Router Status and post here the Upstream and Downstream stats.

Unfortunately, it is insisting I sign in, the only password I can see on the router is the wifi password which it doesn't take...image.png

Cant see the image you've posted at the moment ... apparently newcomers have their images vetted by the moderators before they will appear.

Which hub do you have?

Ah ok, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the newest Hub 3 but I'm sure there must be a screen that shows your Upstream & Downstream figures.
