Poor Internet Speeds since going over data allowance

Evening all,

I've gone over my allotted data allowance and have paid the automatic extra fee to have unlimited internet for the rest of the month. My speeds have dropped from 20Mbp/2Mbp to 6Mbp/0.5Mbp.

MS response to the internet is around 14/15ms so nothing going on with my local LAN. Do Virgin throttle bandwidth based on usage?

I would of thought paying extra will allow me to continue with my original FTTC speeds rather than drop to ADSL speeds.

Thanks

Lee

Re: Poor Internet Speeds since going over data allowance

virgin media has data allowance up to 200mb of speed but not gamer

and Virgin does throttle bandwidth up to 200mb but not gamer

if you download alot it can effect your internet connection

over utilisation issues across the network everyone is getting slow speed at peek times

is this in peek times thats weekends and 4pm to midnight dueing the week

On the 20Mbps service, if you download over 3500Mb between 5pm-10pm your speeds will be cut by 75% for 5 hours.

The 30Mb service and above doesn't have this restriction.
