Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

Hi,

I have been upgraded to a Hub 3.0 and 150 Mbps service.

Unfortunatly the maximum down speed I get at 06:00 am is 20 Mbps.

In the evening after 19:00 I am lucky if I get 2 Mbps.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Please help

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

Are you testing wired or wirelessly?
Where are you testing the speed?

To only be getting 20Mbs at 6am says something's up (unless it's 20MBs and not 20Mbs).

If you want to post some basic information from your hub, go to 192.168.0.1 don't log in, instead hit the router status button on the screen. In the next menu, go to the 'downstream' 'upstream' and 'network log' sections and copy and paste the information from there to here. Alternatively you can take screenshots, but if you do make sure you cover your IP if it shows in the network log section.

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

I have tested wired and wifi and they both achieve 20 Mbps

I switched the Hub 3.0 to modem mode and tested speed from a Linksys WRT1900AC and also get 20 Mbps over both wired and wifi

Wifi tested from iPhone, iPad and Macbook Pro (All get 20 Mbps)

Wired tested from Macbook Pro and Dell Latitude (All vet 20 Mbps)

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

Are you testing on speedtest sites or direct download? Post a screenshot of your result

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

I have used both methods, I am convinced my hardware is working fine. I believe Virgin to not have sufficient bandwidth in my area "24"

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

Peak times that may be true, but no area has off peak problems which is why I'm querying your speedtest result.

There is a difference between MB and Mb.

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

I've cancelled my Virgin broadband this afternoon. Don't have time to waste on non productive Virgin phone calls

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

150 Mbps = 18.75 MBps. With the over-provisioning maybe could get 20 Megabytes per second. If this person is really only getting 20 Megabits per second something must be wrong and not contention.

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

The package is provisioned up to 172Mbs afaik. Around there at least. With overheads that's easily 20MBs.

Re: Only getting 20 Mbps down speed

I do mean megabits- If I use Speedtest.net to run a test my ping response time is 700 ms

My iPhone is currently a 3G hotspot in my house
