Not signed contract yet - narrow escape?

Hi,

I just moved into a flat that has a VM socket.  I am in area 20 (SE London, postcode is BR3).

I requested 100Mbps package with phone.  Hub3.0 arrived on Tuesday and setup seemed to go OK.

I was getting 92Mbps d/l and 6Mbps u/l.

Today I only get 40-60Mbps d/l and only 0.2Mbps u/l!  I have done a full reset of the hub, no change.

I have now received the email to sign the contract, but having read all the horror stories on here and seeing my service turn to crap already I'm having doubts about signing it at all.

Also, I never received any info about the phone service.  The phone socket (labelled NTL) is dead. My account lists the number (on the bill section), which 'rings' if I call it with my mobile.

Not terribly impressed so far.  How long can I defer signing?  Do distance selling regulations mean that I only have until Tuesday (one week) to cancel?

Re: Not signed contract yet - narrow escape?

It's a 1-2 week response time from virgin. You need to ring up if you want a quicker one.

Cooling off period is 14 days.

The upload being as crippled as it is would point to the cause of your issue rather than over utilization (currently). If you call up see what they say is the issue.

Re: Not signed contract yet - narrow escape?

Hey Glenn2,

Thanks for posting and a big welcome to the community Smiley Very Happy

I'm sorry about your experience with us so far, I'm hoping we can change your opinion.

I've checked your Hub, and there's no area faults raised at the moment, your power and SNR levels are good, as are the time-outs.

Have you been testing your speed on a wireless or hard-wired connection?

Please get back to us so we can investigate further.

Thanks again for posting,

Take care.

Re: Not signed contract yet - narrow escape?

Actually after the first few days it's been OK. I initially had 2 days of great speeds, 2 days of very poor speeds, but then good again ever since. Generally 70-90 down and 6 up. I was getting 0.2 up on the bad days. Ping is around 6-12mS.

Looks like I'm staying. :-)
