New upgrage to Vivid 200 Gamer Area 04 - Not getting anywhere near this speed

Hi

I recently had my BB upgraded to VIVID 200 Gamer and have noticed the speeds do not get close to 200Mbps.  Generally the speed is hitting between 65-120Mbps.

The SuperHub is running in modem mode, but I have tested plugged in directly as router and the speed tests say 150Mbps one test and then only 65Mbps on the next test. (Currently the hub is back in modem mode).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Stu.

Re: New upgrage to Vivid 200 Gamer Area 04 - Not getting anywhere near this speed

Just to confirm, when you say directly plugged in, your testing via ethernet and not wifi?

If thats the case probably worth posting your levels here.

192.168.0.1 or 192.168.100.1 in modem mode, click on 'check router status' and post the info here.

Re: New upgrage to Vivid 200 Gamer Area 04 - Not getting anywhere near this speed

Hi Stu

You don't say what your previous speed tier was, but if it was less than 200Mbps then you might want to check that your hub has correctly picked up the new 200Mbs config.

Go to http://192.168.100.1/ to get the super hub GUI. Don't login (unless you have a Hub 3 and this is your first visit to the hub GUI, which does require you to login) but instead click on Router Status which is either a button in the top right of the screen or a text link at the bottom of the screen depending on which hub you have. On the next screen click on Configuration then look for Primary Downstream Service Flow. Under that heading the value for Max Traffic Rate should be 230000000 bps if your hub is correctly configured for 200Mbs.

Re: New upgrage to Vivid 200 Gamer Area 04 - Not getting anywhere near this speed

Yes, speed tests are via Ethernet, not over WiFi.

Previous was VIVID 100.

Checked and the status for MAX traffic and both down and up are updated to accommodate 200Mbps DOWN and 20Mbps UP.  The upload speed hits 20Mbps, but the download not near 200Mbps.

Still nowhere near 200Mpbs Smiley Sad and ping time seems huge

Re: New upgrage to Vivid 200 Gamer Area 04 - Not getting anywhere near this speed

The power levels posted look OK to me.  The Post RS Errors on the downstream look a bit high, but this could just be a historical build up.  Might be worth resetting the Post RS Errors counter and seeing if the errors start climbing rapidly again.

Have you checked your kit to make sure it is not throttling speeds?  Sometimes software on PCs or QOS settings in third party routers can limit speeds.  Tried different Ethernet cables to rule out a faulty cable?

Re: New upgrage to Vivid 200 Gamer Area 04 - Not getting anywhere near this speed

Reset the counter, currently all back to 0

No hardware or software that is running QoS or any other throttling.

Tested again and this is the result (same cable)

I am also on the Vivid 200 Gamer package.

Area 04 covers rather a large area I am in Rowley Regis B65 and it's also area 04

I first reported speed issues to Virgin Media on the 9th of December 2014 yes 2014 that is not a typo take a look at my ongoing thread here

My speedtest

It will be 1am before I actually see 220/21 and that will only last until 10am Smiley Sad
