New upgrade to Vivid 200 Gamer (Area 04) - Highest speed 150Mbps (generally hitting between 65-120Mbps)

Hi

I recently had my BB upgraded to VIVID 200 Gamer and have noticed the speeds do not get close to 200Mbps.  Generally the speed is hitting between 65-120Mbps.  The new upload speed of 20Mbps however seems to have no issues hitting that.

The SuperHub is running in modem mode, but I have tested plugged in directly as router and the speed tests say 150Mbps one test and then only 65Mbps on the next test. (Currently the hub is back in modem mode).

Software Version V1.01.11
Hardware Version 1.03

Hi stu8520,

Welcome to the Community!

Really sorry to hear you're having trouble with your speeds.

I've located your account and everything is looking OK at the moment. I can see the hub hasn't been rebooted for quite a long time.

I'd like you to reboot the hub by switching it off at the mains, leaving it off for a minute and switching it back on back on again. Once you've done that, try performing a speed test with the hub in Modem Mode to see what kind of results you get.

Speak soon Smiley Very Happy

Josh

Thanks for the reply Josh.

I rebooted the hub last night and ran speedtests again last night and again now.  No improvement in speeds.

I've heard reports from another forum member who is in area 04 that has had ongoing speed issues since 2009!

Any ideas?

Re: New upgrade to Vivid 200 Gamer (Area 04) - Highest speed 150Mbps (generally hitting between 6...

I'm in the same area on the same package. Speeds are DRASTICALLY dependent on time of day and the type of download. I'm currently pulling in a comfortable 24-25 MB/s. Between 6 and 12 I'll get between 1 and 5 MB/s. Normally closer to 1. During that time period speed tests will still say ~20 MB/s but I'll not get even close to that with any actual downloading.

For me this is a fairly recent thing. I never used to have this problem. Sometimes it would drop during peak hours, but never as much or for as long each day. It really feels like throttling. Particularly since only some types of traffic seems to be affected, and speeds will pick up and drop off at the EXACT same time each day.

Re: New upgrade to Vivid 200 Gamer (Area 04) - Highest speed 150Mbps (generally hitting between 6...

After a phone call with Virgin support they have informed that there appears to be no issues with my kit.  But they did say that work is being carried out in the 04 area to cope with the amount of customers.  The work is scheduled to be finished 22/03/17 and they say speed improvement should be noticeable.  If no change then to call back and check on the job status.

In the meantime they have put me on reduced rate tariff  to compensate.

Hopefully by the end of March I'll be back on with good news!

Re: New upgrade to Vivid 200 Gamer (Area 04) - Highest speed 150Mbps (generally hitting between 6...

Thanks for coming back to us about this stu8520,

Really sorry to hear about the connection fault experienced. :/

I've had a look into this for you and it appears the fault reference F005021230, concerning a high demand for our service in your area is only slightly out of spec, therefore, no major connection faults should be experienced with this.

I've double checked your equipment levels, etc., and I've not been able to detect any further cause for concern with this.

Let me know if I can help with anything more,

Nat_J

Re: New upgrade to Vivid 200 Gamer (Area 04) - Highest speed 150Mbps (generally hitting between 6...

Sorry to hear that you've also had some trouble with this Castle5,

I've also double checked everything via your account and I can see that you're connected via a different cable to stu8520.

There is, however, also a fault raised within your area for this under the reference F004970286, with a review set for 05/04/2017.

In addition to this, there appears to be an issue with the equipment SNR Upstream. I'd like to arrange for one of our field engineers to come out and investigate this further.

I've sent you a private message so that we can chat some more about this.

Speak soon,

Nat_J

My main concern is as per the comment from tommey in my thread:

Area 04 B65 high utilisation fault ticket F004670584

Original Fault ticket raised January 2015
Deferred to May 2015

Deferred to 12th August 2015
Deferred to 14th October 2015
Deferred to 4th November 2015
Deferred to mid April 2016
Deferred to 06th of July 2016
Deferred to 31st September 2016
Deferred to 30th
November 2016
Deferred to

Yet another review date now 12th July 2017

Seems like a common ongoing issue with Virgin.

Re: New upgrade to Vivid 200 Gamer (Area 04) - Highest speed 150Mbps (generally hitting between 6...

@stu8520 thats a different fault code.

Area 04 is not the problem, its each individual locality inside of it.
