My speed boost is complete.

Whinge time again.......Signing in to My Virgin Media, as you do, I often get greeted by boasts about VM broadband speeds, this time......apparently.....yet another speed boost is complete.....with the offer to "Find out more" with a link that takes me out of My VM where talk of a super dooper new Hub 3 that gives me what they call "Ultrafast wireless broadband"

Firstly, why have you linked me out of My VM ? It could have opened another window.....couldn't it ?

Secondly, where is MY Hub 3 ? I've still got the original one.

Thirdly.....can I opt out of these advertisement blurbs ? They are only making me jealous for the new customer's kit.

Re: My speed boost is complete.

If you have the ORIGINAL Superhub 1, you want to upgrade. The sweet spot is currently SH2 or SH2AC, which should be available FOC if you are out of contract. Time for a call to retentions methinks.

HUB3? Avoid.

Re: My speed boost is complete.

I have looked online and it appears my superhub IS the original superhub.

So Kippies......how do I upgrade  ? What does 'out of contract' mean ? And who or what is/are 'Retentions' ?

Re: My speed boost is complete.

Ring up virgin media, ask to speak to retentions, ask for a hub upgrade to the 2ac (not the 3)

Out of contract = not tied into a 12/18 month contract etc. If you are on a superhub1 and don't know what out of contract means, that likely means you've been a customer long enough without bothering VM to be out of any contract.

Re: My speed boost is complete.

I have moved a couple of times, and the buggers change your contract, in fact they change your contract at the drop of a hat, now I know why.

I shall give them a phone call tomorrow, what can I lose ?

Re: My speed boost is complete.

Wait, so did they boost the speed for everyone in an area suffering from utilization? If so, that is just stupid.

If your IN contract, its likely to cost you price of postage so no great conspiracy.  Personally I would wait till after the weekend and play phone roulette. 150, 1,4,5 for options should land you with onshore retention's during UK office hours. If not, hang up and redial. They will be more clued in than offshore support, which you will get if you phone over the weekend.

Re: My speed boost is complete.

Must admit I would much prefer to speak to onshore support than the opposite, as polite as they are.........

I see you are not just a pretty face, you appear to have inside knowledge, I shall phone on Monday after noting that number sequence.

I shall give an update after the call.....many thanks.
