Massive ping spikes whilst playing 'League Of Legends'

I'm unsure why, but i get spontaneous usually short periods of 3-10 second spikes of lag whilst playing League Of Legends in my area on virgin... I'm on a very fast internet connection and i'm the only one who regularly uses it.

My device is a MSI gaming laptop new from three months ago and i am certain that it can handle a low performance game like league perfectly fine.

Re: Massive ping spikes whilst playing 'League Of Legends'

Hi Frey,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

Sorry to read that you are experiencing high ping spikes whilst playing League of Legends.

I've checked your connection for any issues and the line/hub have come back as fine.

Are you able to post ping test and trace route results please for us to check?

Is there an issues with the broadband speed or does this come back as fine?

Do you get the same issue on both wireless and wired?

Let us know how you get on

Sam

Re: Massive ping spikes whilst playing 'League Of Legends'

So i've checked into it some more, it seems apparent that my area is suffering an incredible amount of packet loss and i get frequent internet disconnections on my wireless and wired connection... The reliability of virgin media's internet in the area is anything but.. well reliable.

Re: Massive ping spikes whilst playing 'League Of Legends'

@Frey

Your line was checked earlier and was said no issues on it.

The area reference codes are nothing but commercial billing codes from when all the old companies did the broadband before VM took them over. They have no relevance to any line issues.

What's the spec of your wireless card? Generally speaking laptop manufactures skimp out on the wireless side of things.

You should try using a wired connection (especially while gaming if you care remotely about performance) as wireless connections are effected by a myriad of factors outside of yours or any ISPs control (hence why none of them guarantee wireless speeds). See how that goes.

Re: Massive ping spikes whilst playing 'League Of Legends'

The issue has been resolved, i went directly to virgin media and an individual there took a look at my hub and fixed it. The issue was with the wireless and not my computing device.
