Low br0adband speed on new router

Received today (4.2.17) new Tivo Box & Hub 3.0 & upgrade to 200mb.

A test shows a download speed of only 17.64mb, 10.23mb upload, & 33ms ping time.

On HP Pavillion Laptop within 2mtrs of router.

Any suggestions on what to check appreciated before I get on to Virgin.

test it wired so you can determine if its a wifi problem or definitely down to the broadband.

Try it at few different time on a weekday to see if its down to over utilisation or if its an actual problem with your internet connection.

I'll stop talking now as usually it takes the staff on here a week after your last post to look at your problem.

Another thing you can post is your network spec of the laptop.

If you go to device manager and networking in there, what does it say?

Or I could just not be lazy and google it myself.

Network Card
Integrated 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet LAN

You will not get over ~90Mbs on that laptop.

Companies tend to skimp out on the networking side of components on laptops. Yours is one of them.

Wow I just checked too, I'm surprised, I thought all computers came with gigabit network ports these days...

So yes the speed your getting is pretty much the maximum you can get through that port.

HOWEVER it does have usb3 ports, and you can get a usb3 gigabit network adaptor for about  10 quid.

Wifi, its adaptor is ok so you ought to be able to get better wifi speeds, do you have any baby monitors or other wireless devices that could cause interference, also its worth getting a free wifi scanner app to see if your suffering interference from neighbours etc.
