Thank you for all the updates, if you have fault numbers, review dates etc please also let me know AREA codes and first few characters of your postal code that way the list can show better locations of utilisation.

Cheers

This fault was already in existence when I moved into the affected location (PO14) but I've found references to it back to May 2015. After moving back around 6 weeks for each review date it recently got pushed back by 8 months.

BT do:

Virgin Media don't:

I'm getting 3Mbs tonight. Definitely no capacity left at my local VM cabinet.

Which just goes to show that at least BT have SOME morals and decency towards customers, which is more than can be said for VM, who have just recently sold a nearby neighbour 'blazing fast 200mb broadband' despite there being a fault reference here for almost 3 YEARS, and the 'salesman' promising there was 'definately no problems in this area, they are all up north, yo will get 200mb all day long, no worries' !!  (the local cabinet is less than 100 yards from both our houses as well!!) He is now furious that he is getting about 10/12 meg during the 'peak hours' but, of course he is now outside the 'cooling off period' because VM pretended that there were various 'problems' that they would 'sort' over the next few days.....(this was basically to 'string him along' until it was too late to get out!!

VM = bunch of crooks and scammers, at least BT will tell you the truth!!

Re: Is it just me or is VM plagued by over sold services, so called over utilisation faults, see inside..

I thought the BT message about no more capacity refers to number of physical connections available per fibre enabled cabinet rather than load in the area.

VMs issue is that even with half a cabinet used the infrastructure is often inadequate and old CMTS units cause certain issues such as the single threaded versus multi-threaded connection speed difference.

For example in my local VM cabinet there are only a small number of connections but the few users in our road still suffer terrible performance as the whole area is over subscribed.

It should make no odds whether or not the capacity is physical connections in the cabinet or available bandwidth. If it's oversold it all leads to the same result. Just because VM have space in the cabinet to add more customers doesn't mean that they have to fill it up irrespective of whether or not they can deliver the promised speeds. At least BT are transparent about what you can expect to get in terms of guaranteed and minimum speeds. It's VM's economy with the truth that leads to so many let down and disgruntled customers. A bit more honesty and transparency up front would go a long way in terms of customer satisfaction.

Hi Tommey

Got an update for you on fault number F004610345  new review date is 03/01/2018

So realistically this will never get fixed because as it takes so long to upgrade the network by the time its done virgin has already over sold the service to new customers so to back to square one.

Exactly I first complained about my speeds back in December 2014 but it was poor months before that, so I am coming up on 3 years now, maybe soon I will get a few months maybe a year where speeds are acceptable before huge speed increases get added again and over utilisation rears it's ugly head once again.

One thing I did notice however I was upgraded by retention's a couple of months ago to the 300 tier (long story short it made my speeds worse no matter what time of day it was...... now the option for the 300 tier is now no longer available in my area so perhaps they are learning lol.

Thank you for the update @pcmanbob I have edited the list

Take it to The Register, Tommey. It forces VM to comment.
