Regarding over utilisation (or any problem that finds its way onto this forum): we should be very careful with stating anything remotely related to the above on it's own - potentially greatly misleading. Perhaps a follow up sentence?... 

"However, it's highly likely that the majority of those suffering from over utilisation would quite simply be unaware of the real reasons for their crippling speed drops - they may wrongly assume this is 'normal' evening/peak drop. Further, even if they were aware, it's highly likely that a significant %age of those would not be aware of this forum. Common forum-required supporting evidence of BQM's and speedtest.net data may be beyond many. Many will direct their complaints only to phone support and/or letter...bypassing this forum entirely."

We can add to/adjust the above and massage the individual probabilities of any element but I'd hope we all realise the obvious - this forum is undeniably the tip of the iceberg.

For what my opinion is worth, you have confused "the majority of those suffering" with the number of areas of over-utilisation.  It would seem likely to me, that at least one person in each oversubscribed area would find a way to this Forum.  And if not, then surely the majority of oversubscribed areas?

On reflection, while I agree that this thread is a good idea. Ya'll need to go public on Twitter if you really want traction on this issue. @ofcom

As long as the information is 'contained' on Virgin's premises, they will be very happy. Go public fellas, go public.

3800 views is all that this thread has got in its lifespan.

Obvious respects to Sephiroth (great sticky...my head's sore trying to understand some things...though I think your interpretation of my earlier post could be more accurately aligned with what I actually said), and respects the rest of the folks and VM forum team for putting up with what we're relentlessly justifiably complaining about...however, and of course, there are SERIOUS issues that LGlobal NEED to act upon. Primarily, they must correct the obvious growing over-subscription bandwidth-sapping problem. Each sub-standard cabinet (upstream line +/- downstream impactor) affects a hell of a lot more than a 'few' individuals, clearly. Unfortunately, LGlobal's puiblicised 'billions' of investment seem undoubtedly to be directed to increasing subscribers/profit rather than fixing the current issues.

VM - when their services (broadband in particular) work 100% - offer something no other supplier currently provides and we recognise that...they also know that, and clearly play on this! but they're taking a hell of a risk in pissing so many folk off with poor service. What is absolutely certain is that for these folks, the package will be instantly swapped to another provider once they become competitive in the services that are increasingly important...broadband, in particular. The competition merely needs to undercut. That's a fine line...then again if you truly believe that the hidden side of this iceberg is insignificant then, well...continue ignoring subscriber complaints at your peril...you'll undoubtedly get what you deserve!

Yea its area ref 20 and first m16.
