Re: Internet connection barely usable Fault ref: F002896495

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear F002896495, happy birthday to you.

Thank you to the Forum Team for keeping us updated with the progress (or not much progress) of this problem but as Durzo_Blint says, whoever is in charge of getting this problem fixed obviously does not care about VM's customers.

Re: Internet connection barely usable Fault ref: F002896495

Hi ian-c,

Thanks for getting back in touch Smiley Happy

I am sorry this is still ongoing, I only wish I could quicken up the process in any way. It's still due for review in April, so please check back with us then for an update.

I really appreciate your patience!

Take care and have a great weekend.

PS: I very much enjoyed your song!

Re: Internet connection barely usable ref; F002896495

Thank you to Kev for the update via PM that todays review date has now been pushed back (yet again) until 23/12/2015.

All I want for Christmas is a reliable broadband speed.

Incidentally

The postcode checker says....

Hold on tight

Your speed boost is on the way…

We’ve already started boosting speeds in your area. We’ll be in touch between December 2015 and February 2016 to tell you when your speed upgrade is ready.

Is the 'fault' ref; F002896495 going to be fixed first? Or is the planned speed boost to SuperFibre 70Mbps going to supersede it?

No point in offering an upgrade to a faster speed if I can't even get what I am subscribing to now. It is my understanding that I already get my service on DOCSIS 3.0 which was originally released August 2006 as the Super Hub 2 is a  DOCSIS 3.0 wireless cable gateway

Up until recently, the only other option was Sky or BT.

Maximum ASDL speeds in my area was up to 6Mbps due to distance from the exchange, so not worth changing.

I have been holding out for BT Infinity rollout in my area.

I can now get 66Mbps-80Mbps estimated download speed range with a guaranteed minimum of 57 Mbps from BT.

Sky are offering 50% off tv bundles for VM customers who switch but will only guarantee 40Mbps with Sky fibre (but still ten times faster than speeds I currently get!).

Sky+, Sky talk evenings & weekends, Sky Fibre Unlimited and line rental is just £40.40 per month for 12 mths.

I now have a viable alternative.

I will wait until the latest speed boost is complete. (should be sometime between December and February), if there is no significant peak time improvement I will be checking Sky's offers at that time and most likely will be switching to Sky Fibre.

Re: Internet connection barely usable ref; F002896495

Hi ian-c,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear your broadband speed issues are continuing. Your latest result of 0.34Mbps is painfully slow and I appreciate that.

To answer your question, I'm not entirely sure which will come first. As we're gearing up for the speed boosts we're hoping to complete 90% of the network by the end of 2015. It seems your area may be a little later than that.

We're always looking to continually improve our network but every day the demand gets higher so we need to try and keep on top of things.

I hope it's not much longer until you're back connected at full throttle.

Thanks

Re: Internet connection barely usable ref; F002896495

Thanks Rich for the reply.

I received an email today regarding the speed boost which tells me it is 'almost ready'.

I suspect it will be early next year for the 'speed boost' to reach our area.

The problem for me is... will this speed boost actually improve anything regarding the overutilization issue?

I believe the answer to that question will be...NO, not unless the necessary upgrade work is completed first to reduce peak time congestion.

Re: Internet connection barely usable ref; F002896495

Rich_B, Can you shed some light on the appearance of a second overutilisation fault reference for the WN3 area?

You wrote the following on another thread last month:

There appears to be a high demand for our service in your area. We're planning to undertake some upgrades to support this. This is being investigated under fault reference F003066490. The next review date has been set for 16th December 2015.

Another customer in the WN3 area was told by a CS rep that the issue will be resolved on 16th December as they will be replacing a cable.

The date quoted suggests this is in relation to the F003066490 reference.

The long standing overutilisation reference F002896495 has a latest review date of 23 December 2015.

Can you offer some clarification please?

Re: Internet connection barely usable ref; F002896495

Hi ian-c,

Thanks for coming back to me.

Those reference numbers are linked to different CMTS's. So whilst they are the same fault they're not connected to each other. The WN3 area does not use the same connection so to speak.

The dates we give are review dates only to see how far the fault has progressed. Any upgrade work due in the area is given a completely different reference number on the day it's meant to be carried out.

Hope this answers everything.

Thanks
