High latency and very slow broadband

Over the last 3 months (and definitely noticeable after I extended my contract) my broadband performance has been particularly questionable.

I have the 150+ package, and I have seen it as low as 0.5mbs download.  Right now I am getting 24mbs!

Latency in games is getting worse and worse!

I have an email telling me in writing and part of VM advertising "No Slowdowns" and I am due an upgrade in January!

Every time this issue has arisen I have contacted VM helpdesk and asked them to raise an a fault to look into this.  Every time we waste each others time, reboot all my equipment, to absolutely no avail.  It IS NOT the equipment. But we have gone through the entire modem mode single connection each time I have phoned through.

At the end of EVERY call there is never a resolution "try again later it should be fine then" or "well 40mbs is fast sufficient".  I mention the "No Slowdowns" advertising and I draw blanks!

Hopefully someone can do some network analytics and actually find the issue, as it would appear I am not alone, particularly with the latency problems.

 I've managed to locate your account to check this. All the signal levels are looking good. I can see there are spikes in usage in your area during peak times but these sit within our boundaries.

 Do you get better speeds during the day?

Are you using wired or wireless?

What devices do you have?

  I haven't had a complaint since I opened the account.  Then all of a sudden, there is a change.  I used to get a very good service which was always      reliable, latency was great for gaming, and the download speed held up respectably at any time I used it, that is until around three months ago.

  Week days seem okay, lately weekends have been awful!

Are you using wired or wireless?

  All tests are conducted wired.

What devices do you have?

  Router: Draytek 2960, and AP900 wireless access point.

  Test machines: PC & Macbook Pro - both wired, both connected to gigabit ethernet.

 

Again I will iterate, with recent promotional emails "No Slowdown"...

When I was happy with the service, the upload dropped to perhaps 8mbs, whilst the download never dropped below 100mbs.

Something has changed, and the latency has gone to pot.

I pay a hefty premium over other Broadband suppliers, to have the best broadband.  Since signing for another year, I am not getting the advertised service.  Perhaps I should pay BT line rental (much cheaper) and then use the work offer or FREE UNLIMITED internet?  I wish you to resolve this, but at the moment one of us is seemingly in breach of contract.

Downloading a driver from Nvidia.

Presently getting less than 1 mbs.  Nvidia dont throttle their downloads!
