Since an outage on Monday at around 12:15am which lasted about 45mins my upload speed has been terrible not once has it gone above 20mb.

Anyone else having this same issue?

Re: Gaming upload issue

The maximum upload available on any package from VM is 20mb, why do you think it should be higher?

Re: Gaming upload issue

I think he may have read it could soon be 30Mb/s upload on gamer package but that would be far higher then the old 10/1 ratio VM hints want at wanting to get back to for all Tiers and the ratio he is already on.

I am on 300/20 so less than 10/1, 300/30 would be nice for some odd times I upload.

Re: Gaming upload issue

That is because Ofcom made VM change the Modem Config files so that X amount of customers get the actual advertised speed, initially it was only the DL but now both DL and UL, the 200Mb/s Config file will be about 210Mb/s (I cannot remember 100%) or such so peeps in slower areas get nearer 200Mb/s and peeps in good areas will get higher than 200Mb/s.

Re: Gaming upload issue

VM provision you with 5-10% more than the package size, this is why you will get upload speeds of 21 and download speeds of around up to 215Mbs.

This is done to account for overheads in the transmission of data that can slow the speed down a bit.

As to the upload not going over 20Mbs, as stated above 20Mbs is the highest upload VM's packages do (gamer is 200/20, homeworks+ is 300/200). They do not currently go higher.

Re: Gaming upload issue

You've all mistaken what I have said.

Monday I was getting above 20mb upload speeds -  after 12:15am I wasn't

12:15am there was an outage in my area for about 45mins - internet come back online and ever since my upload would not go above 18mb.

Though I have just got home from work and for the 1st time in 2 days it's actually gone above 20mb

Different results

5766719596

The maximum download I have had is 221mb the max upload was 21.75mb

Re: Gaming upload issue

Potentially just the fringes of utilization then if it's only clipping it that much. The upstream spectrum is a lot smaller than the downstream so it doesn't take as much to overload it (however people generally use a lot less upload so rarely comes in to play)
