Faster upload speeds?

Does anyone know, if virgin media is looking at giving us faster upload speeds any time soon?

Re: Faster upload speeds?

When DOCSIS3.1 gets rolled out, that will be when the significant rise of upload speeds should happen.

As to general rise, not really. DOCSIS is based on old TV network which didn't really need upload back then.

Re: Faster upload speeds?

Do you know when this is going to happen? And how fast will that be?

Also how fast can it go then?

Re: Faster upload speeds?

It's out in other countries, and I think I saw a post that said they will want to be trialling it asap, maybe Q1/Q2.

As to actual speeds not 100% sure but it should be a decent jump from what I remember too.

Re: Faster upload speeds?

One of the US cable providers is offering 1Gb down and 50Mb up.

It can definitely do higher uploads in theory, up to 1Gb, but ISPs are very unlikely to offer those speeds for standard residential customers.

Re: Faster upload speeds?

this is a shame, it used to be that i would need faster download now i need faster upload. when you are doing gaming and streaming that and then adding ontop of that having a cloud drive i have a lot of data trying to get to the internet.

Re: Faster upload speeds?

If you are streaming, have you looked at the gamer package? (Should be named the streamer package in my opinion as it doesn't do anything extra for gamers)

Has 20Mbs upload without traffic management (still subject to over utilization on upstream where applicable).

Didn't know what package you are on / looked at.

Re: Faster upload speeds?

i am on that gaming package. but with everything i am wanting/ needing to do with it still need more!

i steam to get the 20mbs up all the time and doesn't slow down from that but it is slow when you have more than one person doing gaming or is trying to back up to the cloud at the same time.

Re: Faster upload speeds?

gaming shouldn't effect it, that uses minimal bandwidth already.

Back up while you guys sleep? Smiley Tongue

Just scheduling things would help you for now by the sounds of it.
