Every mid-morning connection drops

Area reference 21

 

Every day between 10-11am my cable internet will stop working for approx 3 mins. According to the router lights the link is up, no entries in the router logs but the internet just stalls and all devices report no internet.

Service status reports no issues in my area.

Hi Neil,

Are all your devices connected via Wi-Fi?  If so it may be something either in your home or nearby that is on a timer and creating enough radio interference to knock out your connections.  Do you have gas or electricity Smart Meters which may be 'phoning home'.  Changing Wi-Fi channel may be an answer.

Afraid not, it effects all devices both wireless and cabled.

Check DHCP lease renew interval. Is it set to 24 hrs?

Hi Kippies.   Surely DHCP renewal would show up in the router logs and OP say no log entries ????

Is the Hub in Modem mode and which version of the Hub is it.

AS OP has clarified, its no longer relevant  -but for information.

Your log shows DHCP renewal from CMTS to HUB (WAN IP)

HUB to devices LAN side isn't logged anywhere AFAIK.  So if people have it set to 24hrs and its say 7pm every day it renews the leases,  they will see LAN side "dropping out" every time around 7pm.

Can you set up a BQM so we can see if drops are WAN side?

 HERE

 Run it for say 24 hrs, and post the result.

Dont forget you'll need to make sure your router  is configured to reply to ICMP echo requests...

In router mode but DHCP is handled elsewhere on the LAN.

Hub is VMDG490 Superhub 2ac ?
