Drastically Reduced Speed

Hi all,

I've noticed for a few weeks now, that my download speeds and general surfing streaming speeds have taken a massive hit.

Before, on speedtest I would get 30-40Mbps no problem, but today I just ran a test and got 4.5Mbps... Where the hell has all my speed gone??

At the moment I am downloading from steam at just about 500kb/s, that's really poor.

Did you guys take my fiberband and swap it with normal adsl or something??

Re: Drastically Reduced Speed

No one?
Is there another forum section I should be posting in?

MODS: Thanks for removing IP! ;-)

BTW: I just did another speed test - 590kB/s :-(
Why should I pay fibre optic prices for ADSL performance? Maybe I should report this to Ofcom?

EDIT: And just to add, I am using a PC connected with cat6e cable to your router. Nothing has changed inside the house since my speed bombed from 30-40mb/s to 5mb/s :-(

Re: Drastically Reduced Speed

Since they did a maintenance day shutdown, my broadband speeds up and drops off. Just spent about an hour speaking to 3 different vm engineers and still the same. I was getting 200mb before but now they have dropped it back to 150 obviously they didn't like giving me the extra boost. Trying to play Neverwinter on ps4 is impossible with constant lag and disconnects.

Re: Drastically Reduced Speed

Update:

So I powered off the router and re-done the connections, and powered it back on and speeds are back to normal, currently downloading from steam at about 5.9MB/s when on unlimited.

So, I'm not sure what I did that brought the speed back, the re-tightening of the connections, or powering the router off and back on again?

Anyway it works again.

Shame that no one bothered to reply to my post about it though. Time to move on I think.

TLDR: Anyone with speed problems, check your connections, undo, and redo them. It's a lot easier than waiting for someone to get back to you from VM that's for sure.
