Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

wait here for a few days for VM to pick the thread up or ring retentions and they will sort it - chat is another alternative but it can get complicated especially if you get offshore

dial 150 or 0345 454 1111 and follow the prompts to - you are thinking of leaving us - dont worry about that they do much more - open 'till 8pm - 6pm on saturdays - closed sunday and the plus is its a UK call centre

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

If you are on a superhub2 or above you have a good enough Hub for 200Mbs

docsis3 has been around for years, it's only the superhub1 VM won't support on 200Mbs.

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

Thanks for such a prompt reply. I do have the Superhub 2 so all good, however when i'm paying VM over £100 every month I like to have the latest equipment available!

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

The superhub3 isn't all it's cracked up to be, it has multiple bugs and issues you can find on the forums.

Be careful what you wish for.

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

I have just noticed (everything needed powering up and down after a very short power cut) that I have an original SuperHub.

This probably explains why I am not getting 200 Mb/sec.

I am running in modem mode (well, I was until the power cut); are the problems associated with this mode, or only in router mode?

I will trawl through the forum, but would welcome a view on the advisability of upgrading.

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

If you are on the superhub1 you will not be able to get 200Mbs on it regardless of modem mode or router mode.

Ring up and request a newer hub.

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

As I noted, I am aware of this.

I am trying to establish if the known issues with SH3 mean that I am better off with SH1 and a maximum speed of 150 Mb/sec.

As posted elsewhere my free upgrade to 200 Mb/sec seems to have evaporated over the last 6 months or so, so it may be a moot point.

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

SH1 will only take 100Mbs. You won't get 150Mbs profile on it.

It also has terrible wifi. If you only use wired connections then you can stick on it. Ideally you want a superhub 2ac but not sure they will give them out, that will get 150Mbs too.
