Re: Crap Broadband

Evening stings27,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your broadband speeds.

Looking at your connection, the line and hub have come back as fine.

Do you get these speeds at all times of the day or just at peak hours?

Are you testing through a wired or wireless connection?

Hope to hear from you soon

Sam

Re: Crap Broadband

Tested thro a wireless connection via laptop
Seems worse at peak hours which being a working man, is when I need it most. No use me getting decent mbs when I'm at work !
Paid to stream a ice hockey game last week (£10) and it was 'freezing' all the way thro.
honestly don't think the service into the street is sufficient.

Re: Crap Broadband

Join the club.. ive been getting bad service recently :/ ive rung virgin multiple times this week. For past 5 days, ive had poor speeds from 4pm-12am every day on the dot. About 0.10 to 0.80. Cant even get 1mbs during that time. Usally also comes with spikes on my ping and also kills my upload speed along with it.

Over the phone they just told me maintenance was going on in my area, one guy told me to check router lights then suddenly hung up. And another one gave me a false phone number and fake website telling me those were to check the maintenance work. They didnt even work. :/

Re: Crap Broadband

Thanks for updating us with this information stings27,

I've had a look at this for you and I'm also unable to detect any issues either via the equipment levels or network segment at the moment.

If utilising a wireless connection, I recommend adjusting your wireless settings in order to improve the performance of this.

It's definitely worth testing a hardwired connection also to see if the speeds improve for you.

Thanks again,

Nat_J

Re: Crap Broadband

Hi Nat

Thanks for your reply.
By testing it hard wired I presume that means connecting via a ethernet cable ?
If that improves speed does that mean I have to use everything hardwired ? How would I connect a firestick ?
Talking to colleagues and reading thro posts on this forum, would you not agree that the main problem is that VM is now over subscribed and cannot deliver what customers are paying good money for ?
I was told I had a 'free' upgrade to 100 mb and have noticed no difference. I dare bet if I paid and upgraded to 200 mb it would be exactly the same.
