Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

Never had an issue before, but last couple of days things like netflix and other streaming services have been buffering and stuttering like crazy. Really annoying considering I pay for a 100mbit connection (which I do get most of the time).

A recent speedtest produced 68mbps, which should be absolutely ample to stream content, but the issue is obviously dropped hops and excessive latency (see trace below)

Wondering if this is related to the superhub intel chip issue I keep reading about??

Re: Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

hiya @quietriot1983 do you have a hub3?, the traceroute is showing not too bad Would need to check the signal levels if could go to http://192.168.0.1 clicking router status top right [no need to login] and if could copy/paste the downstream, upstream, network log, don't worry about the formatting we can easily read it..

Re: Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

Stats are showing not too bad, would be around a week for the forum admin to run checks for network utilisation, when your testing is this via wired/wireless?, if it's wireless can you test it via wired

Re: Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

Hi,

The tests run yesterday were wired to PC, and the issue is occuring when streaming (wired) to Amazon fire TV, and also when gaming (wired, via Gigabit switch) on PS4.

Re: Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

Tracerouting showing fine, and the ping test might have a small spike since sure all icmp traffic aka ping will have a very low cpu priority

Re: Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

How can you say tracerouting is fine when the FIRST hop outside of my house times out?!

Re: Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

Time outs on traceroutes are normal on VM's network as the servers treat ping requests as low priority (if they reply at all).

Re: Buffering and stuttering of streaming content

Ah right, is video streaming and online gaming low priority as well then?

You're saying it's definitely nothing to do with the Puma chip that has a 150+ page thread?
