Broadband download speed has dropped from average 75 to below 5Mbps

Hi Can anyone from Virgin please explain this drop in performance? It's been ongoing now for over a week.

100 Mbps Broadband speed failure

Again my Broadband speed has droped from 100Mbps fluctuating between  5Mbps -20Mbps

I had issues last year losing weeks of service and now for the past week the same issues have reared there head.

Is there a solution to this or is it better switching to SKY?

Re: 100 Mbps Broadband speed failure

100Mbps does not mean 100 megabytes per second.
100Mbps internet means you're getting 100 mega bits per second which equates to something around 12 megabytes per second (12MB/s)
I've never heard of speeds dropping so drastically so I am assuming you've made an error with your information, would you mind posting your Speedtest results on here? http://www.speedtest.net/
Thanks

The OP will be correct. Have a look around these boards and you'll see it's pretty common.

Re: 100 Mbps Broadband speed failure

Is this wired or wireless? Post the hub power levels and logs so we can see if there is anything obvious.

Go to the GUI by typing http://192.168.100.1 in to your browser. Do not log in.

Click the Router Status button in the top right of the screen then post a screenshot of the Downstream, Upstream and Network Logs. If you can't do a screenshot copy and paste will do.

Re: 100 Mbps Broadband speed failure

Hi deadbutdreaming

Thanks for posting back on the community.

Sorry to read that you are experiencing slow broadband speeds.

From checking your connection, the router is showing as offline and not polling any data. Is the router turned off as not in use?

If you can let me know when you are back online please and I will look at your connection for any issues. Also if you can look at the advice from the community, this will help us further.

Hope to hear from you soon

Sam

Hey deadbutdreaming,

Thanks for getting in touch Smiley Happy

Apologies for the connection problems that you mentioned.

I've just noticed that my colleague Josh is looking into this for you, so to avoid confusion, I will leave you in his very capable hands.

All the best.
