Broadband 150 - where is it?

Since getting the free upgrade I have run various speed tests and rarely get 150mbps...was this just an advertising gimmick? I am connected via ethernet cable to a Gigabit connected pc - any reason why I don't get 150mbps?

Re: Broadband 150 - where is it?

You might want to get a new Ethernet cable that's cat5e or better. It's a common bottleneck. (Although check it's not the ports on your computer/laptop first)

90Mbs is a common bottleneck for non gigabit speeds.

If you have a superhub1/2/2ac you can look at the colour of the Ethernet port. If it's green you good and it's something else, if it's yellow/Amber that's just showing something is limiting the connection to 10/100 not 10/100/1000 gigabit connection you need for above 90Mbs.

Just as a check, can you log into your hub and look at the Operation Configuration page and see what the Downstream Maximum Traffic Rate is quoting.

In your browser of choice, Internet Explorer say, enter the URL  192.168.0.1  and it should take you to your Hub's login page but DO NOT log in ... just click on Router Status and you should see a menu of statistics options.

OK  that's a good start because now it's clear your service is set to a maximum of 172.5mbps so now we have to find out why you are not getting anywhere near that.

Same menu place ... can you copy and paste your Upload and Download statistics so that we can see if you have problematic power levels or noise levels.
