Awful Vivid 200 gamer speeds

I got my virgin vivid 200 gamer installed two days ago and my average download has been about 52mb/s.  The speed can go up to around 80 at night, and i've seen it spike to 180 for a couple of seconds, but it went just as fast as it came and the average download went back down to 40... it has even dropped as low as 8.

It stings when I am at my friends to see they are paying for 50 and are constantly getting 55 (over what they are paying for), so why am I paying for 200 throttled and at some points not even getting over 10.  It's a joke so far and the fact I am paying for the gamer package means that I shouldn't see ANY throttling.  The YouTube videos I have seen on people reviewing the "gamer" service all consistently get over 190 down in their videos, so how do I get virgin to give me what i'm paying for!.

- Tests done via 5Ghz wifi channel and wired connection to my PC via two different Ethernet cables.  Definitely the connection coming in that is the problem.

Thanks

Posting some basic diagnostic info may help.

Navigate to the hub's GUI using http://192.168.100.1
Don't log in, click the Router Status button in the top right of the screen.
Copy \ Paste the Downstream, Upstream, and Network Logs.

Don't worry about the formatting.

If your pings are spiking it could also be related to the issue detailed in the link below which affects every hub 3 at present

Re: Awful Vivid 200 gamer speeds

Power levels and snr look fine.

However, there are quite a few T3, SYNC and lost MDDs in the error log with a T4 error showing a disconnection. The logs only span a short time (exluding the time warp to 1970 Smiley Happy) so nothing conclusive can be drawn, but the general picture does not look good.

A VM Forum Team member should pick up the thread in about a week and can take a closer look at your connection. You can always phone in for a quicker response.

In the meantime you can start a BQM here to get a more detailed picture on how your connection is performing. You will need to dysable the hub 3's firewall though.

Re: Awful Vivid 200 gamer speeds

Yeah they said they would send me out a new cat 6 cable "tried 3 already, don't see why theirs would change anything" and after that if the problem still persists they will take a closer look.

Have you flagged this for a VM forum team member and will they contact me?

Once again thanks very much for your help.

Re: Awful Vivid 200 gamer speeds

I'm not sure if it's related but I've just came across this article on how the Intel hardware within the Super Hub 3 can have an impact on the performance of the router:

Re: Awful Vivid 200 gamer speeds

Hi Schuey,

Thanks for letting us know that you're having some slow speeds issues, I apologise for any inconvenience caused and I promise to do my best to help resolve things for you.

I have had a look at your connection from here and everything looks great! No errors or time outs inside the Hubs logs and all of the power levels are within the preferred ranges.

How is performance at the moment, are you still having issues?

If you put your Hub in modem mode do these issues still occur?

Speak soon,

Thanks,

Adam.

Re: Awful Vivid 200 gamer speeds

Still fluctuating like hell, virgin won't help me though because it does on occasion hit 200  (despite all the low tests).  Apparently that means "everything is fine on their end".  NOTE: I'm not in a high utilisation area

Just ran a couple of tests, no background programs, no other clients connected, all via a cat 6 cable.  Look at that F***ing netgraph...

Capture3.PNG

I took my desktop and laptop to a friend who also has virgin vivid 200 gamer for a test, locked 200 result.  I haven't tried modem mode but I'm not going to pay for extra equipment when virgins own should be providing the service.  I mean what am I paying for.
