Area 30 (Lincoln) pathetic 5mb on 100mb line

Hi guys,

Been with virgin since end of November after having to get an engineer out to reconnect my cable in the box as it was shoved down a hole.. but since then been solid speeds peak or off peak even over Christmas.

 

Today we are running a pathetic 5mb down.

Checked MyVirgin for issues, none in the area and ran the test. Which told me "we're sorting it" and rebooted after ten mins, still the same.

Any ideas?

Just how big are these areas virgin? I'm also area 30 and I'm on Teesside? Also having trouble with broadband speeds

BT Openreach Start Pilot of 330Mbps G.fast Broadband for 138000 UK Premises

it looks, If Virginmedia will not sort it out the continuous speed problem, people will start changing provider.

the speedtest you have posted looks like it is wireless on a tablet. do you have a wired computer you can run the test on?

You are correct. It was on my phone. Which makes no difference as I used to pull 80-100 on a speedtest over wi-fi.. funny that was within 2 weeks of being connected.


But to answer your question, I did a wired speedtest shortly after my post last night which gave me 5.5mb down. But no proof.


Funny that 30 minutes ago I managed 45mb which is still unacceptable.


Yet right now, 6mb.

Wireless and wired.


I came to Virgin as I never had problems in another area. And BT messed up my order 3 times.

Get sent a self install which wouldn't work as my cable was disconnected in the box down the road, had to wait 7 days for an engineer and been charged for that week where I had no service.  I let that slide when I was getting the service I asked for.


But now this is pathetic. Virgin I expect you to sort this. I understand I won't get 100 at all times.. hey I'd be happy with at least 60% of what I'm paying for. But not this.

Not impressed at all.

The area codes are based on who was the original cable company in that area, rather than geographic. There could be various towns or cities in completely different parts of the country which come under 'Area 30'.

Ran the test on my virgin account page again. Told me to wait 10 mins and reboot. Problem still stands.

Got a handful of Lost MMD & RCS partial service messages on my router log.

From research on here my power levels and snr seem alright.

Suppose I'll ring them and waste my Saturday.

Update.
Very helpful guys up north.
Nothing obviously wrong that they can see.. so technician coming out when I'm free which is next Friday.
