Are current 50Mbps users going to be upgraded for free to the new minimum service of 100Mbps?

That's it really, in a nutshell.

Probably will eventually ... which could be a long while.  The quicker route would be to sign up for a 12 month contract on one of the new packages.

I got a silly-low deal with Sky so I'm going to give them a try for 18 months and then if it doesn't work out, come back for those lovely 'new customer' deals Smiley Wink

I have 14 days to change my mind so haven't cancelled Virgin so far.
