Another slow connection not as advertised!

An ex employee of VM.

I am an I.T professional.

have checked my equipment over and over.

always had well over 150Mbps down and over 10 up.

gigabit card in wan server (glorified router).

gigabit NIC in main desktop pc.

2 servers running constantly pushing and pulling very very small amounts on data from remote sites, both servers are gigabit connected to a gigabit network card in wan server.

all devices connected to main network via netgear gigabit switch.

getting down of approx 45Mbps and up of 10Mbps.

ping to leicester red shed 12ms.

direct cable connection to hub3 down and up speeds to follow.

Re: Another slow connection not as advertised!

so it would seem that there is a speed cap in the evenings of over 120mbps.

speed this morning back up to 165 down.

constantly transferred to india call centre, ex loyal vm employee, ID. w7710118. watson, access engineering national based.

called this morning got told there is engineering works in your area.
asked the person from india have they been doing it for the past 2 months, (speed has gotten slower and slower).

got transferred to customer relations in dublin.

who then transferred me back to india to an indian guy called gordon who didnt sound like his name was gordon.

SICK AND TIRED OF GETTING PUT THROUGH TO SOMEONE READING FROM A SCRIPT!

sort it out.

Re: Another slow connection not as advertised!

Hi there andrew_watson2,

Thanks for taking the time to post on the community.

I'm sorry to see that you are having issues with your broadband speeds.

I've managed to locate your account and it appears that you are affected by a high peak time traffic fault in your area. The reference number is F004252261 and has a review date of 5th April.

One of my colleagues will be in touch shortly with further updates.

Regards

Sam

Re: Another slow connection not as advertised!

Welcome to the club Smiley Happy

A bit of help for you:

If VM are 100% at fault, utilisation (over subscribing) is their problem, then make a formal complaint with VM, after 8 weeks if its not resolved take it to CISAS, follow my simple guide to make it easier.

You can, if you provide enough evidence to CISAS you can get up to, if not more than 50% of your BB costs.

Hit them in their pocket not yours.

Good luck

Regards

Re: Another slow connection not as advertised!

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5994488653

download from my house.

pretty poor.

download from a business connection up the road that i manage has approx 100 mbps at the same time of evening.

they are on exactly the same network segment as me.

co091 to be exact, i am fed from node 15, they are from node 1 (directly next to the telco mux).
and no they are not on a leased line, hfc connection exact same as mine.

so why is it that retail connections are so limited?

Re: Another slow connection not as advertised!

If they are on a different node and getting better speeds, it suggests that the node you are connected to is overloaded.
